Johnny Depp’s new controversy: Actor responds to verbal abuse allegations by ‘Blow’ co-star Lola Glaudini
Hollywood actor Johnny Depp has responded to allegations of verbal abuse made by his Blow co-star Lola Glaudini. The controversy arose after Glaudini recounted her experience on the ‘Powerful Truth Angels’ podcast, where she claimed Depp verbally attacked her during the filming of the 2001 movie ‘Blow’.
Details Of The Incident
According to reports, Glaudini mentioned that during a scene, director Ted Demme instructed her to laugh while Depp delivered his lines. However, when she followed the directions and laughed, Depp allegedly approached her aggressively, using profane language and accusing her of distracting him.
“I hear the cue, and I go haha, I do a big laugh or whatever,” Glaudini said.
She added, “Johnny Depp when they say cut, walks over to me, comes up to me, sticks his finger in my face and he goes, ‘Who the f*** do you think you are? Who the f*** do you think you are? Shut the f*** up. I’m out here, and I’m trying to f***ing say my lines and you’re f***ing pulling focus. You f***ing idiot. Oh, now, oh now it’s not so funny? Now you can shut up? Now you can f***ing shut the fuck up? The quiet that you are right now, that’s how you f***ing stay.’”
Johnny Depp’s Response
In response to these allegations, Johnny Depp’s representative provided a statement to Deadline, stating, “Johnny always prioritizes good working relationships with cast and crew, and this recounting differs greatly from the recollection of other members on set at the time.”
Glaudini described the incident as unsettling, especially considering it was her first day on a major studio production. She mentioned feeling isolated after the altercation and receiving what she termed a “non-apology apology” from Depp later on, where he attributed his behavior to being in character and dealing with the pressures of the role.
Background On ‘Blow’
Blow, directed by Ted Demme, was a biographical crime drama that featured Depp in the lead role of George Jung, a notorious American cocaine smuggler. Lola Glaudini played the character of Rada in the film.
