Baby boy found wrapped in his dead mother’s arms is the sole survivor in a plane crash that killed three

In a tragic flight mishap this afternoon, a family was torn asunder, leaving three adults deceased. Amidst the wreckage, a beacon of hope prevailed as an infant boy, shielded by the last embrace of his mother, was found alive—her ultimate act of protection ensuring his survival.

The aircraft, registration HK 2335-G, was under the control of the child’s father, Fabio Grandas, a doctor esteemed for his extensive humanitarian endeavors. These efforts brought significant relief to numerous individuals in far-off areas of the country. The boy’s mother, Mayerly Diaz Rojas, whose career in telecommunications law was notable, and their nanny, Nuris Maza, also perished in the crash.

A member of the Civil Air Patrol for a considerable period, Fabio was not on duty for the patrol when the crash occurred. Investigators have confirmed that the aircraft’s engine maintenance records were current, however, the exact cause of the accident remains undetermined.

The aircraft’s intended destination was Guaymaral airport, where an emergency was reported prior to the crash.

The young survivor, Martin, was found enveloped in the protective stance of his late mother. He was promptly taken to the Fundacion Santa Fe de Bogota University Hospital, where his condition is currently stable. He is the youngest of three siblings, who were not present on the flight.

The Colombian Civil Aviation Authority released a statement saying: “A baby who was also aboard the plane is currently receiving care at a medical facility.”

Recently, Colombia has seen its share of aerial tragedies, notes Zenger. One devastating event in 2016 resulted in 71 deaths.
