Distinguished for her academics and arts, Laura Hillier’s journey at Nelson High School in Burlington, Ontario, was halted by leukemia, first at 13, and devastatingly, after a period of remission, at the tender age of 18 on January 20, 2016.Through their dedicated Facebook page, Hope for Laura, her family shared how she faced her illness with bravery, grace, and a perpetual glow.
Laura’s fervent love for music and theater shone through her performances in school. While Laura was able to receive her Year 12 yearbook prior to her passing, her send-off became a living yearbook, filled with heartfelt messages.To honor Laura’s memory and continue her fight, contributions can be made to Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation, which strives to eliminate childhood cancer.
Laura’s story, though brief, is a poignant testament to the profound impact one person’s life can make and the infinite value of each moment we have.
