Gruppo Chiarello, his esteemed restaurant collective, announced the tragic death of the renowned chef and television personality, which occurred on Friday, October 6th. The cause was a severe allergic reaction leading to anaphylactic shock, after which he was hospitalized for a week.

Michael Chiarello was a familiar face on TV screens, known for his signature Italian-influenced Californian cuisine. Aside from spearheading a highly regarded cooking program on PBS, the Fine Living Network, and the Cooking Channel, Chiarello earned an Emmy for hosting his Food Network series, Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello.
Chiarello also gained acclaim on popular culinary contests such as Top Chef, Top Chef Masters, and Next Iron Chef, coming in second place to Rick Bayless in the fourth season. His exemplary skills led him through a career including roles as the executive chef at establishments like Caffe Museo in San Francisco, Ajax Tavern in Aspen, and Bisect in Scottsdale.
