It’s Like a Different Person. John Goodman, 71, Lost Almost 200 Ibs and Changed Beyond Recognition
Famed for captivating audiences in “The Big Lebowski” and “King Ralph,” the venerable John Goodman has astonished fans by shedding a staggering 198 pounds.
Gracing the red carpet at the 62nd Monte Carlo Television Festival, the actor turned heads with his dramatically slimmed-down physique, prompting onlookers to use words like “incredible” to describe the transformation.
The start of his weight loss odyssey can be traced back to 2007, at which point his scale tipped roughly around 398 pounds. Astonishingly, he managed this profound weight loss without surgical means. One of his first steps was a commitment to stop consuming alcohol, signaling a pivotal shift in his personal habits.
By 2016, he had successfully dropped half of that weight. It was during this phase that he sought the guidance of a fitness coach and dedicated himself to a grueling regimen at the gym. Goodman bypassed limits by committing to a six-days-a-week workout schedule and setting a daily goal of 12,000 steps. Moreover, he embraced the nutrient-rich Mediterranean diet, emphasizing fish, olive oil, fresh produce, nuts, and fruits in his new nutritional plan.
Making his theatrical debut with the classic “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in 1978, John Goodman’s cinematic journey commenced in 1983. His notable performances include sharing the screen with Al Pacino in “Sea of Love” and Jeff Daniels in “Arachnophobia.” His remarkable role in the comedy “King Ralph” was followed by unforgettable performances in “The Big Lebowski,” “The Artist,” and the critically acclaimed “Argo.”
