John Cena, 46, Happily Chooses Not to Have Children to Prioritize His Wife

The famous wrestler turned actor, John Cena, and his wife are happily married without children and have no plans to change their cozy lifestyle. We wanted to find out why this lovable hunk has chosen to live without kids, and you might discover that his reasons resonate with you too.

He tied the knot with his second wife in a surprisingly short span of time.

Cena got married to his second wife, Shay Shariatzadeh, in October 2020. They met while working on the movie Playing with Fire (2019), and after only a year and a half of dating, they had a secret wedding.

Shortly before the happy date, Cena tweeted, “When you are truly ready to let love in and give to love all it needs to flourish, I feel there is no greater more rewarding connection.” 2 years later, Cena and Shariatzadeh had a proper ceremony to celebrate their love once again.

He made it clear that children are not part of his future plans.

Cena doesn’t feel the need to rush when it comes to starting a family. The Peacemaker actor mentioned that his booming acting career had occupied him and is genuinely content with his present circumstances. In his own words, “I really enjoy my life. I have been riding a lightning bolt for quite some time now. I have been given opportunities to do and see things that, man, I didn’t even dream of, and I had some pretty lofty dreams.”

Cena also shared that his life is quite demanding, and he puts a lot of effort into being his best husband. Due to these commitments, he feels he doesn’t have much left to pursue other aspirations at the moment. “It’s hard work. It’s hard work to balance the time I need to run myself correctly. It’s hard work to be the best partner and husband I can be to my loving wife. It’s hard to keep connections with those in my life that I love.”

Interestingly, the 46-year-old actor believes he’d do really well as a parent, but it’s not a good enough excuse for him to pursue that, as he explains, “I think just because you might be good at something, for me, is not a strong enough reason to do that. You have to have a passion for it. You have to have fuel for it.”

However, the possibility of having children is still open for discussion.

Even though mentally Cena is nowhere close to starting a family with Shariatzadeh at the moment, there are reports that children aren’t entirely out of the question for the couple.

As a close source shared, “He said for so long that he didn’t want kids, but now he’s warming to the idea more and more. They’ll go with the flow, but it’s different with Shay, he feels wiser and more ready for the responsibility. It’s something they’d both love, for sure.”

Choosing to live without children is a personal decision that offers a unique opportunity for individuals to dedicate their time, energy, and resources solely to themselves and their own personal growth. And more celebrities openly shared why they chose to live a child-free life. And, of course, we have an article for our beloved readers about those celebs, too, here.
