Every time the notion of revamping her space was suggested, this steadfast grandmother maintained she had little time left. She became a widow in her early fifties.
Regardless, she is savoring every moment presently, sharing laughter with her companions on strolls and reveling in shopping sprees.
We had been coaxing her for a decade and a half to consider renovating, as she clung to the desire for her residence to echo the era of her late husband. Eventually, she welcomed the idea of giving her cherished home a new lease of life.

Our first task was to infuse life into the kitchen, turning it into a vibrant and cozy corner, followed by a spruce up of the bathroom facilities. Encouraged by the progress, Grandma was persuaded to adopt stylish ceilings and lay down sleek, new linoleum. Out went the old furniture, making way for the chic, and the wallpapers her and grandpa once chose were traded for contemporary designs. Next up, we expertly primed and plastered the walls.

As the renovation neared completion, we hauled away debris and revamped the electrical systems, repositioning switches for convenience.

The smooth application of putty, both an initial layer and a finishing touch, preceded the laying of the foundation. We also took the opportunity to upgrade the heating with new radiators. As planned, our renovation steadily took shape.

With the walls prepared, we moved on to perfecting them with sanding and then proceeded to paint the ceiling, highlighting it with elegant moldings.

In selecting wall decor, we chose fleece-backed vinyl wallpapers. To achieve a chic and modern vibe, one wall featured a decorative pattern while the others were adorned in subtle solids.

And now for the heartwarming touch: Grandma chose to retain the old cabinets as a tribute to Grandpa’s memory. Thankfully, she did give a nod to more comfort with a brand-new sofa! With these changes, Grandma’s golden years are certainly going to be more joyful and comfortable.
