Steve Harvey’s secret to his wife
The effervescent Steve Harvey is a familiar face in the comedy world—his witty humor lights up our days. Beneath his charismatic presence, Steve hides a few life secrets.
In 1957, the small town of Welch in West Virginia welcomed Broderick into the world, whom we’ve all come to know as Steve.
Not long after, he migrated with his family to the bustling city of Cleveland, Ohio.
Steve’s early life was a patchwork of challenges.
He donned the hats of a boxer, an autobody worker, a carpet cleaner, and a mail carrier before finding his calling.
In the early 1980s, Steve developed a penchant for stand-up comedy and in 1985, he graced the stage for the first time in Cleveland, winning over the crowd instantly.
Enduring periods of homelessness, Steve lived out of his vehicle, using petrol stations for his daily ablutions. Persistence led to his own shows, most notably “The Steve Harvey Show” from 1996-2002, as well as hosting gigs on “Family Feud,” “Celebrity Family Feud,” and “Little Big Shots.”
Yet success has not swayed Steve from his grounded outlook on life.
A believer in reaching out to those in need, Steve, alongside his wife Marjorie, established The Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation, touching the lives of over 3,000 families annually.
He hasn’t forgotten his humble beginnings and is committed to paying it forward now that he’s in a position to do so.
With his first wife, Marcia Harvey, he fathered two daughters. The pressure of his burgeoning career created a rift between them, losing contact for some time. He also has a son from his second marriage to Mary Shackelford.
Now, Steve’s heart belongs to Marjorie, who wandered into his life during a comedy set.
Her untimely arrival and the commotion that ensued for her seating caught Steve’s attention. In a moment that would change their lives, he paused his act and boldly proclaimed, “I’m sorry, I have no idea who this woman is, but I’m going to marry her.”
Their mutual adoration is no secret, as they often showcase their love publicly.
In a heartwarming 2015 segment of the Steve Harvey Show, Steve invited Marjorie onstage under the guise of highlighting a ‘special mom.’ However, Steve had a different agenda.
Revealing the true purpose of the episode, he chose to celebrate Marjorie, leading her to tears.
As Steve shared a moving tribute to his wife, his words resonated with profound love.
He credited her with his transformation.
With heartfelt sincerity, Steve expressed, “You’ve brought comfort to my children’s lives, and while I once merely existed, it is with you that I truly began to live. Before you, I never truly lived.”
