The old dog was walking and did not touch anyone, suddenly “pop” and he fell on the snow

An aged canine, familiar with life on the streets, had eventually found a spot to call his own. As he made his way there one day, the faint sound of a ‘pop’ was his last memory before he laid himself down on the frosty pavement.

As dusk approached, a young lady’s urgent call rang out. The excitement and concern were palpable in her voice as she pleaded for assistance for the dog, who had been injured by human hands, fearing he wouldn’t survive without intervention.

She shared this with us:
“The canine, named Jack, has been unable to rise since dawn. A conspicuous injury marks his flesh. It seems a bullet might be the culprit. Who could he possibly offend? He’s a new addition to our village, clearly of a refined breed, perhaps disoriented and lost, yet garnering no one’s interest. Given his age, it’s possible he was abandoned…”

Jack had taken refuge beneath a balcony and was on his routine stroll when he was startled by the popping sound that led to his tumble.

My neighbor and I immediately gave him refuge from the biting cold. Our quest for aid began ardently, as the absence of a local veterinarian prompted calls to various clinics in reach. One practitioner’s advice was to administer medication to Jack, while another provided your contact. The pills brought little relief, compelling us to reach out to you in a race against time,” she continued.

Under the cover of night, the distressed girl and her companion brought in Jack. The dog was a majestic hound, now rendered helpless, unable to muster the strength to stand on its back legs. The gravity of his condition was later revealed by the attending vet.

By morning, we were with the doctor. A cursory examination was all the vet needed to decide that hospital care was required. X-rays revealed a history marred by airgun pellets, healed bites, a freshly broken hip, and ominous growths.

Throughout the vet’s inspection, Jack’s response was one of sheer apathy, an animal weary from too many hardships endured.

The wait for test outcomes is underway, upon which hinges Jack’s chances for surgery and possible rescue from his pain.
