The touching confession of Bruce Willis’ daughter: “If only we had more time…”

Talulah Willis, daughter of Bruce Willis, spoke about her father, his dementia and his mental health in a long story for Vogue magazine. Although she avoided the media for years, she has now told how she copes with her father’s diagnosis.

In an interview for the aforementioned magazine, Talula touched on the moment when she and her family found out that Bruce was suffering from aphasia, and then that it was just a symptom of frontotemporal dementia, which makes him less able to recognize the people around him and which affects his cognitive abilities and behavior.

The moment that made her cry

At first, Talula denied her father’s illness, which she is not proud of, but she could not cope with it. In the summer of 2021, she was at a wedding where the father of the bride gave a speech, and that’s when she realized that she would never live to see it.

“Suddenly I realized that I would never experience this moment, that my father would not give a speech at my wedding. And it was devastating. I got up from the table, went out and cried,” she said.

Every time he visits his father, he takes as many photos as possible, saves all his voice messages on the hard drive and wants to make a collection of everything related to him as a memory.

“Fortunately, his dementia has not affected his movements. I can always find him in the kitchen, the living room or the office. I recently found a piece of paper in the office on which he wrote: Michael Jordan. I would like to know what he thinks. For now, who knows myself when I walk into the room,” she said.

She added:

“When I talk about my father, I keep going from the present to the past, and that’s because I still have hope. I’ve always recognized parts of his personality in myself, and I know that we would get along great and be incredibly good friends, if only we had more time. “
